Alex One Year! | North Georgia Children's Portrait Photography

When my sister-in-law got in touch with me and wanted me to do a shoot with her adorable little girl, who was I to say no?! And we had such a great time! Alex was one of the happiest babies I've ever seen, and she's definitely not shy in front of the camera!

And, of course, I have to share this one...makes me giggle every time I see it:

Bunch Family | North Georgia Family Photography

I have to admit that I was a little nervous before this shoot. Shooting little ones is a completely new realm for me and naturally I wanted to do a great job. Lucky for me, I got to work with a pretty amazing family (and a happy baby to boot!). Thanks so much to Tasha, Adrian, and Kingston for such a great shoot!

June's Free Shoot Winner!

Today's post will have to be short and sweet this morning since we're having to take my poor kitty to the vet but I wanted to make sure you guys didn't wait another day to find out who won last month's free shoot drawing!

(Yes, I reuse entry slips! lol) Congrats to Rachel! I'll be shooting you an email shortly!

I did notice that I got a couple of last minute entries after I had already drawn a name yesterday, so I went ahead and saved those for the next drawing on August 1st. And, as always, don't be bummed if you didn't get drawn this month we still have half a year left of drawings! :)

Bailey + James | North Georgia Engagement Photography

There was a time very early in my photography when I hated the thought of shooting a wedding. It scared me to think that I'm solely responsible for someone's big day (heck, it still does!), but every single time I shoot couples (whether engagement, bridal, or just simple couple's shoot) I'm reminded time and again why I love doing this. I'm a huge sucker for romance, and the love and excitement between two people I get to see spark in front of the camera...well, I have no words for how it makes me feel.

And James and Bailey's shoot was definitely not the exception. From the beginning of our shoot until we got back to our cars I could feel the love between these two. They're so adorable together and I couldn't get enough of them! I've had so much fun shooting with them and editing their shots and now it's time for you to get a look at these two lovebirds!

Thanks so much again to Bailey and James for such an awesome time; can't wait for the big day!

Words | Why Not?

I don't know what it is about Spring, but there's something about it that makes me just open up so much more. And I suppose that even includes blogging. So hopefully this is the start to a beautiful relationship between me and my blog. Poor thing just sits here, getting dusty. Bless.

Anyway, I had a pre-consultation recently for a wedding I'll be shooting in November (can't wait!) and while we were talking and having a great time I passed along some of my business cards and somehow the topic of me leaving them "lying" around in places came up. I mentioned that I had been tempted to before but never have.

"Why not?"

I didn't really have an answer other than I always assumed people found it pushy and I never wanted to seem like "that" person. When it came to something I love (photography, obviously), I didn't want to make a mistake that could potentially ruin my chances of making something of it.

"Why not?" It reverberated in my head for a few days. Still does. Why in the world am I not being pushy? Ain't no one going to know my name if I don't get it out there, right? And so what if an idea fails? Harry Potter was rejected twelve times before given the green light. Obviously, if "good ol' J. K." decided to give up after the third, fourth, fifth or even the eleventh or twelfth time it was rejected then she would have never known just how big it would have become.

It doesn't just apply to business or even writing, but in anything and everything in your life. I know you'd think it would be a fairly easy concept, but obviously it took twenty-six years for it to click in my head! Instead of worrying about what people think or what could possibly happen if you let yourself tether just a little farther out than you're comfortable with, forget those people and let your focus be on what you just might accomplish while you're floating out in the unknown.

And if you happen to see one of my business cards lying around, leave it for someone who hasn't heard of me yet...

Real Life | Atlanta Zoo

R & I decided that a couple days from town would be a fun idea. Of course, I didn't disagree with him! I'll take sleeping in bed over going to work for sure! lol So we packed up an overnight back and headed to Atlanta for the weekend. I'd never been to the ATL zoo, so that was our first stop!

Oh, and two of my favorite things are giraffes and love so you can imagine how excited I was to find two giraffes lovin' on each other! Definitely the only PDA I squealed over ever!
