If you've dropped in recently, you've noticed I've revamped my blog once again. No I'm not going through a "phase." Since around mid-October, I've been seriously thinking about the direction I want my photography to go. Now this is something I do towards the end of every year, but this year was a little different...and it affects both my blog and my photography.

Photography
Photography is my passion. Yes, it's a cliche phrase, but I can't think of words that correctly describe the connection I've had with a camera since the day I began to shoot. It's what I do. It's what I love. It's the only way I know to express myself to the outside world. It's my passion and it's my life. And when I'm able to take photos of others and the portion of their lives they share with me, it's like magic. There's nothing quite like it.

And 2012 was the biggest blessing for my photography. I met so many incredible people last year and I was allowed to come into their lives and shoot the thing that was most important to them. It really showed me the things that were truly important and that these are the things we certainly should never take for granted.

I digress. While I want 2013 to be just as amazing as last year (if not more, of course!), I wanted to spend a lot of this year focused on my skill and style and making it mine. I'll get to the details of what all that means in another post soon. But that's great news for you guys because that means way better photography and more opportunity for free shoots! Oh yeah!

Blog
I had this terrible habit of trying to run two blogs. Not the greatest of ideas, because one blog would get ignored for a while while the other got posts. In my defense, I was trying to keep my private life away from my professional life but I've learned through a lot of my readers here that that's what they're here for, the real-life stuff! So I decided to finally break down and merge the two.

Most of my posts have always been photography related, anyway, so hopefully it won't be too terribly different from my regular posts. But sometimes there will definitely be some wordy, thoughtful posts and maybe even some crafty diy posts mixed in. Hopefully it will appeal to everyone, but we'll see how it goes for now.

So, with all that, let's get 2013 started off right, shall we? I'm so excited with what the new year will bring!
